| Summary, etc. | Tonsillektomi sonrası ortaya çıkan boğaz ağrısı, postoperatif morbiditeyi belirleyen en önemli yakınmalardan biridir. Boğaz ağrısı sonucunda yetersiz oral alım, dehidratasyon, aktivite kısıtlanması, otalji, enfeksiyon ve ateş sık görülür. Tonsillektomi sonrasındaki dönemde ağrı kontrolü, iyileşme süresini kısaltarak işgücü kaybını azaltmasıyla maliyeti düşürmektedir. Bu çalışmanın ana amacı; tonsillektomi sonrası, ağrı kontrolü açısından değişik ajanların etkinliğinin karşılaştırılmasıdır. Bu amaçla topikal klindamisin, topikal deksametazon, sistemik amoksisilin + klavulonik asit ve sistemik sefprozil'in ağrı şiddeti üzerindeki etkinliği araştırılmıştır. Kronik rekürren tonsilit tanısıyla tonsillektomi yapılan 78 hastanın "Visual Analog Skala" ve 'Fasiyal Skala yardımıyla postoperatif ağrı şiddeti skorları ölçülmüştür. Çalışmamızın sonucunda, tonsillektomi sonrası uygulanan ajanların ağrı şiddetini azaltmada birbirlerine karşı üstünlüğünün olmadığı tespit edilmiştir. SUMMARY Throat-ache appearing after tonsillectomy is one of the most important complaints that determines the postoperative morbidity. Insufficent oral nutrition, dehidratation, restriction of activities, otalgia, infection and fever are seen frequently as a result of throat-ache. Pain control after tonsillectomy decreases the costs with shortening the recovery period and decreasing loss time in labor force. The main aim of this study is to investigate the efficacy of different agents in the control of pain. To accomplish this the efficacy of topical clindamysin, topical dexamethasone, systemic amoxicillin+clavulanic acid and systemic cefprozil is investigated regarding the severity of pain after tonsillectomy. Postoperative pain severity scores of 78 patients with recurrent tonsillitis who underwent tonsillectomy were evaluated using "Visual Analog Scale" and "Facial Scale". As a result of our study, it is determined that any of agents used after tonsillectomy hasn't got superiority to others in reducing the severity of pain.
